The leaders agreed on the importance of sustained engagement to address priority areas. Their discussion, which occurred during the UNGA session, represents their first face-to-face interaction since trade tensions surfaced due to US tariffs on Indian goods and the purchase of Russian oil. India and the US are working towards a trade agreement, with negotiations led by Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal. Prior meetings included the 10th Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in July and an earlier meeting in January.
