The Sumud flotilla, consisting of international activists, is nearing Gaza, aiming to breach the blockade. The flotilla is close to the Gaza coast and includes many ships carrying civilians, Italian lawmakers, and European Parliament members. Israel had earlier issued threats to the flotilla. Italy and Spain had dispatched naval ships. However, the Italian warship has stopped its support. The Italian Defence Ministry confirmed that the Italian navy would halt shadowing the international fleet aiding Gaza. The ministry further stated that the warship would pause its operation when the flotilla reaches within 150 nautical miles (278 km) of the coast. The statement also mentioned that the warship would issue two warnings to the activists. The second and final warning is likely to be issued around 00:00 GMT, when the flotilla is anticipated to be within the specified distance.
