Iran’s military has issued a strong response to the recent US airstrikes, threatening retaliation and promising serious consequences. According to a military spokesperson, the attacks have only increased the number of ‘legitimate targets’ available to Iran. Ebrahim Zolfaqari, representing Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters, directly addressed former President Trump, calling him “the gambler,” and vowing to strike back. Zolfaqari concluded his statement by stating, “Mr Trump, the gambler, you may start this war, but we will be the ones to end it.” The Iranian military views the potential response as self-defense. Iran’s ambassador to the UN, Amir Saeid Iravani, said that the Iranian military will decide the “time, nature and scale” of its response. Former President Trump has asserted that the strikes caused “monumental damage,” although the extent of the damage remains under evaluation by experts. Some believe Iran may have moved essential materials before the attacks.
