Iran, aiming to preserve its influence in Lebanon, is responding to pressure on Hezbollah to relinquish its arms. Iran’s presence in the region is under threat as Hezbollah weakens. To counteract this, Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, visited Beirut. He affirmed Iran’s steadfast support for Lebanon, stating that Iran feels Lebanon’s pain. Larijani’s trip is particularly significant given the increased influence of the United States and Saudi Arabia in Lebanon. He met with various Lebanese leaders, including Hezbollah and Shia leaders, Sunni representatives, and the President. Highlighting the historical ties, Larijani noted the centuries-long relationship between the two countries. Discussions during the visit centered around bilateral relations and regional developments, with Larijani engaging with key Lebanese officials.
