Tehran is steadfastly prioritizing peace even as external threats loom larger. In a weekly media briefing on Tuesday, Iran’s government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani emphasized that the nation is focused on de-escalating tensions and steering clear of conflict.

Speaking to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Mohajerani underscored that all government departments are working tirelessly to maintain calm amid escalating pressures. ‘Despite growing external dangers, Tehran remains committed to keeping war at bay,’ she stated firmly.

The spokesperson highlighted diplomacy as the cornerstone of Iran’s strategy. ‘Our government always prefers diplomatic channels over warfare,’ she said. Both diplomacy and deterrence, she added, are essential to safeguarding the country’s honor and interests.

Mohajerani detailed ongoing efforts to bolster defensive capabilities while pursuing talks. Recent military drills demonstrate Iran’s readiness to counter adversaries, yet negotiations continue with caution and vigilance. ‘We are advancing diplomatic initiatives seriously while enhancing our response capacity,’ she noted.

Officials are closely monitoring developments, dedicated to diplomatic outcomes, and prepared to use every tool to prevent miscalculations. ‘In essence, we are fully prepared for both paths,’ Mohajerani affirmed.

Addressing recent student protests, the spokesperson acknowledged them as a legitimate right. ‘We view students as active, aware members of society,’ she said. However, she stressed adherence to red lines, including respect for religious sanctity and the national flag, even in moments of anger.

A fact-finding committee reviewing January’s unrest is holding regular meetings and addressing issues like prisoner releases. Mohajerani advocated for constructive dialogue over confrontation as the way forward. She thanked science and health ministers, university directors, and faculty for their patience in reopening campuses.
