Switzerland has invested approximately 12 billion Swiss francs (13.2 billion USD) in nuclear bunker construction since 1962. The majority of these bunkers are located on private property, within basements of apartment buildings or single-family homes. The responsibility for building and maintaining these bunkers rests with cantonal and municipal authorities. Despite the unified goal, official policies vary across different cantons. Following the India-Pakistan conflict earlier this year, there has been a growing demand for more bunkers in India. Many experts have emphasized the need for the construction of bunkers, along with robust air defense systems.
