The Indian Navy’s INS Arihant submarine has successfully conducted a critical test of the K-4 ballistic missile, a weapon designed to provide a powerful undersea deterrent. The missile’s capabilities include a remarkable range of 3,500 kilometers and a speed exceeding Mach 5, enabling it to strike deep into enemy territory from submerged positions. This successful trial underscores India’s progress in establishing a fully functional nuclear triad, with the ability to launch nuclear weapons from all three strategic platforms. The K-4 missile is characterized by its hypersonic speed, substantial explosive capacity of 2,000 kg (or nuclear warheads), advanced stealth features to evade radar detection, and precise satellite guidance. This marks the third successful demonstration of the K-4, signaling its readiness for deployment and a significant enhancement of India’s strategic defense capabilities. The missile’s advanced technology poses a serious challenge to any adversary’s defense systems.
