Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced a historic visit to Namibia, arriving in Windhoek on Wednesday. This visit is the first for an Indian Prime Minister and the third overall Prime Ministerial visit from India. The visit is a State Visit, hosted at the invitation of Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah. The Prime Minister was greeted with a formal welcome at Hosea Kutako International Airport.

The MEA highlighted that PM Modi’s visit reinforces India’s longstanding relationship with Namibia. The visit itinerary includes bilateral discussions with President Nandi-Ndaitwah, a tribute to Dr. Sam Nujoma, and an address to the Namibian Parliament.

This visit follows a State visit to Brazil, where he engaged in the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro and held bilateral talks with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in Brasilia. During his Brazil visit, he received the Grand Collar of the National Order of the Southern Cross. Namibia is the final stop on a multi-nation tour, which also encompassed Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, and Brazil.
