The United States is seeking to emphasize its strong relationship with India following tariff implementations. The US Embassy in India issued a statement on X, referring to the India-US partnership as a defining relationship for the current century. This statement came just before Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the SCO Summit held in Tianjin, China. The US Embassy’s post focused on the progress, individuals, and potential of the partnership, including innovation, entrepreneurship, defense, and bilateral relations, stressing the enduring friendship between the two countries. The post also quoted US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who underscored the essential role of the friendship between both peoples. Prime Minister Modi described his meeting with Putin as ‘excellent’, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas like trade, fertilizers, space, security, and culture, as well as discussing the situation in Ukraine. The Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs noted the meeting between Modi and Putin strengthened the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.
