New Delhi is taking swift action as tensions skyrocket in the Middle East. With escalating US-Israel strikes on Iran, India has launched a dedicated control room in the national capital to safeguard its citizens in the volatile region.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced the move on Wednesday, underscoring New Delhi’s commitment to citizen safety amid the chaos. Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared the update on social media platform X, stating that the control room has been established in response to the deteriorating situation in West Asia and the Gulf region.

Operating from 9 AM to 9 PM Indian Standard Time, the facility offers round-the-clock reassurance through toll-free number 1800118797 and landline contacts: +91-11-23012113, +91-11-23014104, and +91-11-23017905. Indian nationals in distress can reach out for immediate assistance.

    The MEA has also rolled out country-specific emergency helplines. For Bahrain, dial +973 39418071; Iran numbers include +98 9128109115, +98 9128109102, +98 9128109109, and +98 9932179359. Iraq residents can use +964 7716511185 and +964 7704444899, while Israel offers +972 547520711 and +972 542428378.

    Further lines cover Jordan (+962 770422276), Kuwait (+965 65501946), Lebanon (+961 76860128), Oman (WhatsApp +968 98282270 or toll-free 80071234), Qatar (+974 55647502), Ramallah in Palestine (toll-free +970 592916418), Saudi Arabia Riyadh (+966 114884697 or toll-free 8002471234), Jeddah (+966 126648660 and +966 122614093), and UAE (WhatsApp +971 543090571 or toll-free 80046342).

This comes against a backdrop of intense conflict. US and Israel have conducted joint operations targeting Iran, resulting in the deaths of key figures including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and top military officials. Iran retaliated by striking American bases across Bahrain, Kuwait, and the UAE, heightening fears of broader war.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has voiced deep concern over the unrest. On Monday, he affirmed India’s resolve to collaborate with regional nations for citizen protection. ‘India’s stance on global tensions is clear,’ Modi said. ‘We have always advocated for peace and stability, and when democracies stand together, the call for peace grows stronger.’

As the situation remains fluid, the control room stands as a vital lifeline, reflecting India’s proactive diplomacy in turbulent times. Authorities urge citizens to stay vigilant, register with embassies, and use these channels for updates and aid.
