Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the steadfast relationship between India and Russia, declaring that the two nations have historically stood together, even in the most difficult situations. During a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, PM Modi affirmed that their cooperation is key to global peace, stability, and prosperity. He stated that the close ties are crucial for both countries and the world. This declaration comes at a time of heightened global tensions, particularly with the United States imposing tariffs on Indian goods and penalties related to the purchase of discounted crude oil from Moscow. Speaking on the ongoing war in Ukraine, PM Modi welcomed peace efforts and expressed his hope that all parties would engage constructively to find a way to end the conflict and establish lasting peace. PM Modi highlighted the regular high-level meetings held between the two sides. He also mentioned the anticipation of the Indian people for President Putin’s upcoming visit to New Delhi in December. In the meantime, Russian President Putin appreciated India and China’s efforts to resolve the Russia-Ukraine war. He also criticised Ukraine’s western allies for supporting the coup d’etat in Kyiv.
