New Delhi and Ottawa have reached a consensus to expand cooperation in defence and maritime domains. In a meeting held in Ottawa on July 28, Indian High Commissioner Dinesh K. Patnaik and Canada’s Minister of National Security David McGuinty discussed ways to boost naval collaboration, capacity‑building programmes and joint training exercises. Both sides reiterated their shared commitment to peace, stability and a stronger bilateral engagement. The dialogue follows a recent conversation between Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and his Canadian counterpart Anitha Anand in Manila, which focused on achieving the objectives set by Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Justin Trudeau.
