Bruna Ferreira, a woman connected to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt through her brother Michael, has been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). According to Ferreira’s lawyer, Todd Pomerleau, she was stopped by ICE while driving to pick up her son. Pomerleau expressed strong opposition to the detention, asserting that his client, who he describes as a tax-paying business owner and a non-criminal, is being subjected to an unfair process. Ferreira, who immigrated from Brazil at a young age and was part of the DACA initiative, was in the process of applying for a green card. Official statements suggest she entered the country on a tourist visa that expired decades ago and has a disputed prior arrest. Her attorney maintains that no credible evidence of a criminal record exists and challenges the basis for her detention. The legal team is actively working to resolve the immigration issues, highlighting that Ferreira has shared custody of her son and has maintained a life in the U.S. This development brings attention to the enforcement actions of ICE and the complexities surrounding long-term residents seeking legal status.
