In a shocking incident in Minneapolis, Minnesota, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent fatally shot 37-year-old American woman Renee Nicole Good on a city street. The confrontation escalated quickly, leaving Good dead at the scene and sparking nationwide outrage.
The episode unfolded amid heightened tensions over immigration enforcement under the Trump administration. Federal agents approached Good’s vehicle, which was positioned to block traffic near ICE operations. According to police reports, Good began driving forward slowly, prompting the agent to open fire with at least two shots.
President Donald Trump swiftly weighed in on Truth Social, defending the agent’s actions as self-defense. ‘I just watched the clip from Minneapolis, Minnesota. It’s terrible to see. The woman yelling was clearly a professional agitator, and the driver was very rude, blocking and protesting, then violently, intentionally, and badly ran over the ICE officer, who appears to have shot her in self-defense,’ Trump posted.
Trump blamed ‘radical leftists’ for inciting attacks on law enforcement, stating that such incidents occur because extremists threaten and target ICE agents daily. He emphasized the need to stand with officers to protect America and make it safe again.
Vice President JD Vance echoed the sentiment, assuring ICE personnel that the entire government backs them. ‘To every ICE officer: Your President, Vice President, and the whole government stand with you. Congratulations to the radicals attacking and doxxing you – we’re going to enforce the law even harder,’ Vance declared.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara provided details to reporters, noting the red SUV was blocking the road when agents approached. As Good attempted to move the vehicle, shots were fired. Good’s mother, Donna Ganger, rejected claims her daughter was an anti-ICE protester. ‘She was probably scared. Renee was one of the best people I’ve ever known,’ Ganger told the Minnesota Star Tribune.
Eyewitnesses offered conflicting accounts. Local resident Heitkamp, who filmed the event from his home, described the SUV as angled to impede agents. The car moved backward slowly before inching forward deliberately. Another witness called it an overreaction to a perceived threat, not apparent rage.
Democrats condemned ICE raids in cities as abuses of power and scapegoating of immigrants. Protests erupted immediately, with demonstrators taking to the streets demanding justice and accountability. The incident highlights deepening divides over immigration policy, law enforcement tactics, and political rhetoric in America.
