New Delhi. The Kerala High Court has made a big comment regarding the summons of the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The High Court said that if ED sends summons to me, I will also have to go. No one is above anyone else. Respond to the summons. If the investigating agencies send summons to anyone, they must appear.
In fact, Justice Devan Ramachandran of Kerala High Court, while hearing a petition, said that no matter what position a person holds, if the ED has summoned him, he should go. He said please cooperate with ED. I will control the action they take against you. Appear before ED and come back here. I will help you.
Justice Ramachandran said, do not escape the summons. This is not only about this matter, but it is my opinion. The Supreme Court also says that when the investigating officer sends summons, we cannot escape from them. We are all citizens. If ED sends me summons, I will also have to go. No one is above anyone else. Please respond to the summons.
It is being told that Prashant P Nair, who runs the e-commerce company 'Webmap Traders', had filed a petition. It was said that his company was providing accounting consultancy services to 'Highrich Online Shoppe' since the year 2020. Major transactions took place between the two companies, but due to non-renewal of the agreement in August 2022, the transactions stopped. After this, Highrich's ED started investigation and Nair's bank accounts were frozen and summons were issued to him.
After this Nair filed a petition in the High Court and demanded restoration of the bank accounts. The report quoted ED as saying that when Nair was summoned, he expressed discomfort in appearing. After the hearing held on Thursday, the court, with the consent of both the parties, had directed Nair to appear before the investigating agency on March 12. Besides, it has also been asked to file a report in the court in this regard by March 19.
