At the G7 summit, global leaders have voiced their support for Israel’s right to defend itself as the conflict with Iran intensifies. The G7 statement prioritized the pursuit of peace and stability in the Middle East, backing Israel’s security and the need to protect civilians. Iran was singled out as the primary instigator of regional terror and instability. The G7 nations reiterated their opposition to Iran obtaining nuclear weapons and called for a wider de-escalation of the hostilities, including a ceasefire in Gaza. They also vowed to monitor the international energy markets. Simultaneously, President Trump is reportedly attempting to broker a deal to end the conflict. President Macron confirmed an offer, potentially for a ceasefire, and wider discussions. Trump, on social media, has urged people to leave Tehran and once again stated that Iran should not possess nuclear weapons. Casualties continue to mount as the conflict enters its fifth day.
