Donald Trump, the former US President, has promoted his trade policies, particularly tariffs, as an effective means for international negotiation and conflict resolution, stating that he settled seven wars using these strategies. Speaking in Huntsville, Alabama, where the US Space Command headquarters relocation was announced, Trump championed tariffs as a crucial tool that not only benefited the US economy but also enabled him to navigate international trade and political matters. He criticized the current administration while highlighting the advantages of his own policies. Trump declared that the US has become stronger, directly tying its success to tariffs and related trade strategies, which he claimed enhanced his negotiating capabilities.

“I settled seven wars and numerous of those wars were because of trade,” he asserted, emphasizing that tariffs significantly augmented the US’s negotiating ability. Furthermore, Trump defended the 50% tariffs imposed on Indian imports. He cited the unbalanced trade relationship between the two countries, while also acknowledging the positive rapport between the US and India.
