Foreign Investors Details: Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) continued to invest in Indian equity markets during July. According to data from the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL), FPIs have invested Rs 30,772 crore in the domestic equity markets. With this, net FPI investment in calendar year 2024 has increased to Rs 33,973 crore.
Earlier in June also, FPI had invested Rs 26,565 crore. Last week, FPI has invested Rs 15,420 crore in the equity markets. With this, the total investment of FPI in India in 2024 has increased to Rs 1,30,138 crore.
Kotak Securities’ equity research head Srikant Chauhan says that due to better quarterly results and buying in shares of big companies, the markets remained strong last week. There may be fluctuations in FPI investment in the coming week.
Last week, FPIs invested in the markets of India, Brazil, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and South Korea. At the same time, withdrawals were made from the markets of Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
Talking about domestic bond or debt markets, till July 19, FPIs have invested Rs 13,573 crore. Earlier in June, there was a net investment of Rs 14,955 crore in the bond markets. So far in 2024, the total investment of FPIs in the debt markets has reached Rs 82,198 crore.
