Bharat Ratna ceremony will be organized today at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where President Draupadi Murmu will honor five eminent personalities of the country with Bharat Ratna award. Apart from former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani, other four personalities, former PM Chaughari Charan Singh, Narasimha Rao, former CM Karpuri Thakur and agricultural scientist Dr. MS Swaminathan will be awarded the Bharat Ratna posthumously. Medals and citations will be handed over to the families of the honorees.

Former Chief Minister Jannayak Karpoori Thakur will also be given Bharat Ratna today. Ramnath Thakur will receive his father’s honor from the President. Thakur is considered a leader who ignited the flame of social justice in the politics of Bihar. Karpoori Thakur was born in an ordinary barber family.
