The first glimpse of Vande Bharat Metro train has also been revealed. The trial of this special metro train will be done from July this year. A rail coach factory in Kapurthala, Punjab has manufactured the first few coaches of Vande Bharat Metro.
Initially 50 trains will be made. Gradually their number will be increased to 400. Vande Bharat Metro trains will run between 100 km to 250 km. It will have 12 coaches as default configuration, but it can be expanded up to 16 coaches.
Vande Bharat Metro is a semi-high-speed electric multiple unit (EMU) train developed by Indian Railways. This is the metro version of Vande Bharat Express train. The train is equipped with Collision Avoidance System (TCAS), which prevents the train from colliding with the train ahead. It has many facilities including air conditioning, automatic doors, LED lighting, Wi-Fi, CCTV, bio-vacuum toilet, passenger information system.
Vande Bharat is the country’s first semi-high speed train which was flagged off between New Delhi and Varanasi on February 15, 2019. Today 102 Vande Bharat trains run on 100 routes through 284 districts in 24 states and union territories.
Vande Bharat Metro will initially be run on busy routes like Delhi-Meerut, Delhi-Ghaziabad, and Mumbai-Thane. There are plans to connect other cities also in the future.
Mumbai local train will be replaced by safe Vande Bharat Metro
Mumbai’s local trains will be replaced by Vande Bharat Metro train sets within the next three to four years. With this, daily commuters in Mumbai will get a safe service with AC and automatic gates on the lines of Metro. Official sources of the Railway Board said that the first rake of Vande Bharat Metro train is almost ready at the Rail Coach Factory at Kapurthala. According to sources, after construction of 50 rakes of Vande Bharat Metro, order for construction of 400 more rakes will be placed.
