Peter Navarro, known for his role as a trade advisor to Donald Trump, has drawn attention for his critical comments regarding India. His recent statements have focused on India’s relationship with Russia, alleging that India is supporting the conflict in Ukraine. He has accused India of enabling the war through its oil purchases and acting as a financial conduit for the Kremlin. Navarro’s criticisms have targeted Prime Minister Modi’s interactions with Chinese and Russian leaders. Navarro, born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1949, is an economist who served as Trump’s trade advisor. He was a key figure in Trump’s 2016 campaign and later held a senior position in the White House. Navarro’s background includes three years of service in the US Army, followed by his involvement in the Peace Corps. He holds advanced degrees from Harvard University. He has spent many years as a professor at the University of California. Navarro has written extensively on economic and trade-related subjects. In 2006, Navarro published “The Coming China Wars,” which discussed the risks associated with China’s growing influence. His career has also been marked by controversy and legal troubles related to the 2020 US presidential election, leading to a four-month prison sentence for contempt of Congress.
