New Delhi, March 3: In a precautionary measure amid rising regional tensions, the Indian Embassy in Dubai has issued an urgent advisory for Indian nationals in the United Arab Emirates. Citizens are strongly advised to refrain from all non-essential travel within the country.
The embassy took to social media platform X to communicate the alert, citing the current security situation in the area. ‘All Indian nationals in the UAE are advised to avoid non-essential travel. Stay vigilant, remain cautious, and follow all security guidelines and advisories issued by UAE authorities and the Embassy,’ the post read.
Both the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General in Dubai are operating normally and will provide updates as needed. For any emergencies, Indian citizens in the UAE can contact the toll-free number 800-46342 or WhatsApp at +971543090571.
This advisory comes in the wake of recent escalations in the region, including two Iranian drone attacks on the US Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which caused a fire and significant damage. Following the incident, the US Embassy issued its own shelter-in-place orders for Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam, prohibiting non-essential travel to military bases and urging Americans to seek immediate shelter.
The US mission stated it is closely monitoring the situation and encouraged travelers to review the latest security alerts, reassess travel plans, and prioritize safety for themselves and their families. They also recommended maintaining a personal safety plan, especially for those living or traveling abroad, to prepare for unforeseen challenges.
As geopolitical tensions simmer in the Middle East, Indian authorities are prioritizing the welfare of their expatriate community, which numbers over 3.5 million in the UAE alone. Officials urge calm and compliance with directives to ensure safety amid uncertainties.
