Ukraine conducted a significant drone attack on Saturday, targeting Russia’s largest oil terminal and leading to the suspension of crude oil loading. The facility, controlled by Bashneft, suffered damage and saw two tankers catch fire. Located a considerable distance from the front lines, the terminal represents a key component of Russia’s oil export infrastructure. Although the fire was brought under control, it is unclear whether operations have restarted. This action follows a pattern of Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries, aimed at diminishing Moscow’s financial capacity for the war. In parallel developments, the US is working to rally international support for measures to restrict Russian oil revenue, with former President Trump advocating for NATO allies to levy tariffs on countries that continue to purchase Russian oil. US officials are urging the G7 nations to increase pressure on Russia by imposing tariffs on countries that are buying Russian oil.
