The White House has put forward a noteworthy 20-point plan to resolve the prolonged conflict between Israel and Hamas, which has been ongoing for close to two years. This proposal, presented on September 29th, has garnered acceptance from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Despite this, Hamas has only conceded to a few points, among them a ceasefire, and is pushing for the inclusion of its demands. The plan, supported by Netanyahu, mandates an immediate ceasefire, the exchange of hostages, and the disarmament of Hamas. It also allows for Palestinian self-governance, though subject to deradicalization measures and international supervision. The agreement stipulates the return of all hostages, within 72 hours of Israel’s public acceptance. The article seeks to clarify the adjustments Hamas seeks, the elements they want to add to the 20-point plan, and the role of the International Stabilisation Force (ISF), in consultation with Muslim countries.
