Travelers at four regional airports in North America faced unsettling disruptions on Tuesday as cyber attackers hijacked public communication systems. The sophisticated breach targeted Kelowna, Victoria, and Windsor airports in Canada, and Harrisburg International Airport in Pennsylvania. Messages displayed on screens and broadcast over loudspeakers expressed strong pro-Hamas sentiment, declared “Israel lost the war,” and included explicit profanity targeting President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu. The Harrisburg incident featured a loudspeaker announcement with “F*ck Trump” and “Free Palestine.” Airport operators confirmed the intrusion was facilitated through compromised third-party software, impacting non-essential public-facing networks. Security agencies in both countries have initiated comprehensive federal investigations to identify the perpetrators and prevent future attacks. This incident underscores the increasing vulnerability of public infrastructure to politically motivated cyber warfare.
