An American politician has generated controversy by making disparaging comments about a statue of Lord Hanuman. Alexander Duncan, a prominent figure in the Republican Party of Texas, is under scrutiny for his remarks concerning the construction of a 90-foot-tall statue of the Hindu deity. Duncan has openly opposed the presence of the statue, asserting that the US is a Christian nation.

Duncan stated on X: ‘Why are we allowing a false statue of a false Hindu God to be here in Texas? We are a CHRISTIAN nation!’ He also posted a video of the statue, situated at the Sri Ashtalakshmi Temple in Sugar Land, Texas.

In a separate post, the Republican leader, affiliated with former President Donald Trump, cited the Bible: ‘Thou shalt have no other gods before me.’ Duncan is running for the Texas Senate. Duncan’s remarks immediately drew strong reactions on social media.
