CJI Chandrachud told about the ‘pain’ of judges, said – do not get rest even for a day

Delhi. Regarding the holidays of judges, CJI DY Chandrachud said that they have to work seven days a week and get time to rest with great difficulty. We get criticized a lot regarding holidays. People say that they get a lot of leave but they do not understand that judges have to work seven days a week. Our district judges work every day. Even on Saturdays and Sundays, he remains busy in legal aid camp or administrative work.

Supreme Court judges should give information about the conferences and lectures to be held during the weekend so that this can also be presented before the public. Now the work of judges has become even more difficult. There is a new kind of burden on us. Earlier, attention was given to the hearing of a case only in the court room. At most 100 people were present there. However, now because of live streaming on YouTube, people from all over the country watch us. Therefore, there is pressure on the judges as to what they have to say and what not. He said, we need to be very careful while speaking. People can misinterpret anything that is said in the court.
