In a stark warning at the United Nations Security Council, China’s Permanent Representative Fu Cong declared that military force cannot resolve the escalating tensions in the Middle East. Speaking during an open debate on January 28, Fu emphasized that any aggressive military steps would plunge the region into deeper chaos.

The Chinese diplomat painted a grim picture of the current landscape, where conflict simmers and tensions mount daily. He firmly positioned Iran as a sovereign nation, insisting that its internal affairs must be decided by its own people. China stands resolutely behind Iran’s stability, sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity, Fu affirmed.

Fu urged the United States and other involved parties to heed the calls from the international community and regional nations. Instead of actions that complicate the situation further, he called for concrete efforts to foster peace and stability in the Middle East.

China remains committed to collaborating with the global community, Fu added. The nation respects the free choices of the Middle Eastern people, addresses legitimate concerns of regional countries, and is ready to play a constructive role in promoting long-term peace and stability in the area.
