In a vibrant celebration of cultural exchange, China Media Group (CMG) organized the ‘Spring Festival Gala Prelude’ event in Cairo, Egypt’s bustling capital, on February 13. This prestigious gathering, held at the Grand Egyptian Museum, brought together over 200 distinguished guests, including representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, and the Tourism Promotion Bureau.
CMG Director Shen Haixiong delivered a compelling video message that set the tone for the evening. He highlighted the profound significance of the Spring Festival, known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, as a timeless emblem of Chinese civilization spanning thousands of years. ‘This festival serves as a spiritual bond uniting Chinese communities worldwide,’ Shen noted. Today, nearly 20 countries and regions recognize it as an official holiday, with about one-fifth of the global population celebrating it in diverse ways.
Shen emphasized CMG’s unwavering commitment, having produced the world-renowned Spring Festival Gala for 43 consecutive years. Billed as the most-watched TV program globally, it captivates Chinese audiences everywhere and international friends alike. This year’s gala theme, ‘Galloping Horse, Unstoppable Momentum,’ promises high-energy performances broadcast in 85 languages to reach every corner of the globe.
An official from Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Asian Affairs Department, addressed the strengthening ties between the two nations. Under strategic leadership, Egypt and China have elevated their comprehensive strategic partnership across political, economic, and cultural domains, achieving remarkable milestones. As they mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year, both sides expressed optimism for deeper collaboration, propelling bilateral relations to new heights.
