Approximately 400 Indian citizens are stranded at Tribhuvan Airport in Kathmandu due to the ongoing protests in Nepal. The demonstrations have caused widespread flight cancellations, leading to considerable hardship for the travelers. Many individuals have shared their experiences through a video message.

The stranded individuals report that after completing immigration, they were left at the airport by the airline operators, with the staff nowhere to be found. Passengers are without assistance. A feeling of fear pervades among the Indians stranded at the airport, due to the disorder outside.

    Flight Staff Abandonment

Passengers have reported that the flight staff, after immigration, instructed them to return as flights were canceled. They were not informed of any alternatives. When passengers refused to leave the airport due to the unstable conditions, the staff departed, leaving them stranded.

The passengers are expressing that they have no support and do not know where to go. The unrest is occurring a kilometer away from the airport. Despite the Indian embassy’s issuance of emergency numbers, no arrangements have been made to bring the stranded passengers back to India.

    India’s MEA Statement on Nepal

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs stated, “We are closely monitoring the developments in Nepal since yesterday and are deeply saddened by the loss of lives of several youths. Our condolences and prayers are with the families of the deceased. We also wish for the speedy recovery of the injured.”

India has also expressed its hope for a peaceful resolution of the situation in Nepal. Furthermore, Indian citizens in Nepal are advised to exercise caution and follow the guidelines issued by the Nepali authorities.
