What is a MUDA case
In 1992, MUDA had taken some land from farmers to develop residential areas. In return, under the Incentive 50:50 scheme, MUDA gave the farmers 50% of the site in the residential area or an alternative site. Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvati got 14 sites in the posh area of South Mysore in exchange for the land. The price of the plot received by Siddaramaiah’s wife as compensation is much higher than her land in the village. However, this compensation was received in 2022 during the Basavaraj Bommai government.

Actually, Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvati had 3 acres and 16 guntas of land in Kesare village of Mysore district. This land was gifted to her by Parvati’s brother Mallikarjuna in 2010. MUDA had developed Devnur Stage 3 layout without acquiring this land. However, in exchange for this land, in 2022, the Basavaraj Bommai government gave Parvati 14 sites in the posh area of South Mysore. Their total area was 38,283 square feet under the 50:50 ratio scheme.

According to the information, the MUDA scam case is worth about five thousand crores. There are serious allegations of corruption against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. It is being told that CM Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvati was gifted some land by her brother Mallikarjuna. This land is located in Kaisare village of Mysore district. Later this land was acquired by Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA). In return, Parvati was given a plot of 38,223 square feet in Vijayanagar area. It is alleged that the price of the plot in Vijayanagar, located in the prime area of South Mysore, is much higher than her original land in Kaisare village. Due to this, Siddaramaiah is surrounded by allegations of corruption.

Highlights of the verdict against Siddaramaiah in MUDA scam-
1. The petitioner has made out a prima facie case that the CM and others have abused their official powers. 2. While the land allotted to MUDA was 40 km away from Mysuru, the alternative plot provided was at a prime location in the heart of the city. 3. This case is an example of indirect influence exerted by people in public service positions. 4. Exercising indirect influence does not always require a formal recommendation letter or official order. 5. The benefit was not given to an unknown person but to the wife of a prominent person. 6. There is no instance where such a valuable replacement plot was given to a farmer who lost land in Kesari village. 7. If the complaint had been filed against an ordinary person, they would not have escaped investigation under any circumstances. 8. When a chief minister is accused of receiving a benefit of Rs 56 crore, an investigation is both necessary and inevitable. 9. It is common for those filing corruption complaints to face counter-allegations, which is often the case for whistleblowers. 10. The fact that an alternate plot was requested and received by the wife does not exclude the involvement of the petitioner in this matter. 11. It shocks the conscience of the Court that instead of 4,800 sq. ft., what has been given to the petitioner is 38,284 sq. ft. 2 sites become 14 sites. The petitioner’s wife is now the proud owner of 14 sites worth Rs 56 crore.
