A woman was shot by US Federal agents in Chicago on Sunday following her actions of ramming a law enforcement vehicle. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has confirmed the incident, which took place during routine patrolling in Broadview. The DHS indicated that law enforcement officers were rammed and encircled by a group of ten vehicles. The event unfolded amidst intensifying anti-ICE protests and the Trump administration’s increased focus on quelling unrest in Democratic-led cities.

Tricia McLaughlin, Assistant Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, provided additional details via an X post. She explained that at least ten vehicles were involved in ramming and boxing in the officers during the confrontation. McLaughlin stated that one of the drivers involved in ramming the law enforcement vehicle was armed with a semi-automatic weapon. As a result, law enforcement officers were required to use their weapons and fire defensive shots at an armed US citizen, a woman.

McLaughlin’s post further described that during routine patrolling in Broadview, in the same area where law enforcement were previously assaulted, officers were rammed and boxed in by multiple vehicles. Agents were unable to move their vehicles and exited the cars. One driver was armed with a semi-automatic weapon, leading to the use of defensive force by law enforcement. The woman then drove herself to the hospital for treatment.

She further noted that the woman had been listed in a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) intelligence bulletin the previous week for purportedly doxing agents and posting, ‘Hey to all my gang let’s fuck those mother fuckers up, don’t let them take anyone.’ McLaughlin stated that no law enforcement officers received serious injuries in the attack. Furthermore, the post mentioned that Pritzker’s Chicago Police Department is not helping to secure the scene, and special operations are being deployed to maintain order.
