New Delhi is gearing up for a significant diplomatic milestone as Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva prepares to land in the country. In the lead-up to his arrival, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has released a compelling video highlighting the robust and multifaceted ties between India and Brazil.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal took to the social media platform X on Wednesday morning, announcing, ‘Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is arriving soon in India.’ Accompanying the post was a video showcasing key moments from the strong, diverse, and strategic relationship between the two nations.

President Lula’s visit, scheduled from February 18 to 22, promises to elevate bilateral engagement. He is set to participate in the AI Impact Summit and hold crucial talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 21. Departing for India, Lula expressed enthusiasm, stating he looks forward to exploring new avenues of cooperation.

In a post on X, the Brazilian leader noted, ‘On the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are now heading to India. In the coming days, I will participate in the summit on the impact of artificial intelligence. We will discuss new opportunities for cooperation between Brazil and India.’

Accompanying him is a high-level business delegation, underscoring the intent to bolster economic partnerships. The MEA statement outlined that the two leaders will review all aspects of bilateral relations, with PM Modi hosting a lunch. Discussions will also cover regional and global issues, including cooperation on multilateral platforms, reformed multilateralism, global governance, and matters concerning the Global South.

President Droupadi Murmu will meet President Lula and host a banquet in his honor. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar are also slated to hold meetings. Lula’s entourage includes around 14 ministers and top CEOs from major Brazilian companies. The ministers will engage with their Indian counterparts, while the CEOs are expected to attend a business forum organized during the visit.

This visit highlights the growing trade and commercial synergy between India and Brazil, setting the stage for enhanced collaboration in key sectors.
