    EAM S Jaishankar held discussions with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during his visit to India on August 18-19, 2025, initiated by an invitation from NSA Ajit Doval. The meeting highlighted the critical role of border peace in advancing India-China relations. Jaishankar stated that the ability to jointly maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas is the basis for any positive progress in their ties. He also stressed the importance of moving forward with the de-escalation process. The leaders also discussed the current global situation, given the significance of the two nations involved. Jaishankar proposed a fair, balanced, and multipolar world order, including a multipolar Asia, and the reform of multilateralism. He also underscored the necessity of maintaining and enhancing stability in the global economy, as well as combating terrorism.

    Wang Yi highlighted the maintenance of peace in border areas, and the resumption of the Indian pilgrimage. He expressed confidence in expanding cooperation and consolidating the positive development of China-India relations. He saw this as a way for both nations to contribute to each other’s success and provide much-needed stability in Asia and globally. Wang Yi was scheduled to hold the 24th round of Special Representatives’ (SR) Talks with NSA Doval to address the India-China boundary question.
