BMC Budget 2025: Mumbai’s Municipal Corporation (BMC) presented its budget for the financial year of 2025–26 on Tuesday. This is the third consecutive year that the budget is assigned to the administrator instead of the standing committee. Which has been under the Administrator rule since March 2022. 74,366 crore has been kept in the budget. In which Rs 43,162 crore has been kept for development works and capital expenditure, which will emphasize on development works.

BMC’s new budget and purpose
BMC said that the budget was 14.19% more for 2025–26, which was more than the budget of 2024–25. By December 2024, the total revenue of BMC reached Rs 28,308 crore, including income from major sources such as Octroi, Development Fee and Property Tax.
Additional Funds for BMC
In this budget, the state government has been ordered to give 25 % to BMC on the basis of 25:75 for additional FSI premium. Due to which BMC has received an additional amount of Rs 70 crore. It is estimated from this budget that an additional contribution of Rs 300 crore will be made from 2025 to 26.

Students of class 8 and 9 will also get tablets!
The Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is going to expand its gimifated learning initiative in schools, which will increase the number of students benefiting from this scheme. Originally 19,401 tablet giving programs will now reach 32,659 students, who study in class 8 and 9.
Financial assistance for best (best) venture
The BMC budget has given financial assistance to the Best (Best) venture. From 2012–13 to January 2025, BMC has given a total assistance of ₹ 11,304.59 crore to Best. Despite its own adequate money requirements for ongoing projects and major initiatives, BMC has proposed a grant of ₹ 1,000 crore for Best in the budget of 2025–26.

Apart from this, BMC has planned to build a tiger memorial in the GMLR tunnel in Sanjay Gandhi National Park, for which a budget of Rs 113 crore has been allocated.
The BMC has presented the budget of Maharashtra for the financial year 2025–26, which is Rs 74,427.41 crore, which is 14.19% more than the previous year’s budget and a provision of Rs 43,162 crore for the development of basic facilities of Mumbai.
