    Big conspiracy foiled: Drugs worth Rs 480 crore seized near Gujarat coast, 6 Pakistani citizens arrested

    Porbandar. Gujarat ATS, Indian Coast Guard and NCB have arrested six Pakistani nationals with huge quantity of drugs in a joint operation. According to the Defense Ministry, the value of drugs recovered from the arrested Pakistanis has been estimated at Rs 480 crore. Let us tell you that under the ongoing campaign against drug trafficking, till now Gujarat ATS, Indian Coast Guard and NCB have together seized drugs worth Rs 3,135 crore.

    According to the ministry, after receiving specific intelligence from the agencies, the Indian Coast Guard had deployed its ships in the Arabian Sea on March 11 itself. The ICG had also tasked its Dornier aircraft with identifying and locating the boat in potential areas. After a thorough search of the area, ICG ships along with teams of NCB and Gujarat ATS reached the spot and identified the boat moving suspiciously in the dark.

    Drugs worth Rs 480 crore seized from boat

    The ministry said that after being warned by the ICG ships, the boat started moving from here to there, after which the ICG ships chased it and forced it to stop. The ministry said in the statement, “It was a Pakistani boat, on which six crew members were present. “On examination of the boat, about 80 kg of drugs worth Rs 480 crore were detected.” ATS Superintendent of Police Sunil Joshi said that about 60 packets of narcotics have been seized. The boat along with its crew is being brought to Porbandar for further investigation.

    3300 kg drugs were also found on 26th February

    It is noteworthy that this is the second major anti-narcotics operation conducted by agencies in the Arabian Sea within a month. Earlier on February 26, five foreign nationals were caught with 3,300 kg of narcotics including hashish from Porbandar coast.
