Delhi. After a long wait, Congress has finally released the first list of its candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. This list includes the names of 39 candidates who have been fielded in the election. Rahul Gandhi will contest from Wayanad, former CM Bhupesh Baghel from Rajnandgaon.
Venugopal said that the candidates' probability of winning and loyalty to the party were made the biggest criteria for candidature. Under this criteria, all the 14 sitting MPs of the party in Kerala have been fielded again. In Kerala, apart from Rahul Gandhi from Wayanad, Shashi Tharoor has been given ticket from Thiruvananthapuram. KC Venugopal was made the candidate from Alappuzha. Hibi Aidan has been given ticket from Ernakulam seat.
Let us tell you that in the CEC meeting chaired by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, the Lok Sabha seats of 11 states and union territories were discussed. This included Lok Sabha seats of Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Sikkim, Tripura, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya and Lakshadweep. Out of these, names of candidates have now been announced for 39 seats.
