BYD Sealion 7 EV has been unveiled in India, and the Chinese EV maker has confirmed that the model will go on sale in March 2025. This electric SUV coupe, which has already been launched in other markets, will be BYD’s fifth product in India. Along with Sealion 7, the company also showcased Sealion 6 and Yangwang U8.
The Sealion 7 will compete with the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Volvo EX40 in India. Its booking has started at a token amount of ₹70,000, and customer deliveries will begin from March 7, 2025.
BYD Sealion 7: Dimensions and design
The Sealion 7 measures 4,830 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width and 1,620 mm in height, while its wheelbase is 2,930 mm. It is 30 mm longer and 10 mm longer in wheelbase than the Seal model. This is BYD’s tallest electric vehicle. It has standard 19-inch alloy wheels, while the option of 20-inch wheels is also available. In terms of design, the Sealion 7 sports an aerodynamic and attractive profile with BYD’s signature ‘Ocean X’ styling. It includes slim LED headlights, DRLs, a close-off grille and a coupe-style roofline. At the rear, connected LED taillights and pixelated design make it more special.
Battery and performance
Sealion 7 is built on BYD e-Platform 3.0 Evo and Blade Battery technology. It is available in two variants—Premium RWD and Performance AWD. Premium Variant: 82.56 kWh battery, 308bhp power, 567 km range. Performance Variant: 523bhp power, 542 km range, 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, top speed 215 km/h. 150kW in both variants There is DC fast charging support, which can charge the battery from 10% to 80% in just 32 minutes.
Cabin and Features The cabin of Sealion 7 is modern and futuristic.
Tech features: 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen, 10.25-inch digital driver display, and heads-up display (HUD). Luxury elements: Panoramic sunroof, 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system, and heated ventilated seats. Safety: 9 airbags, 360- degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), and level-2 ADAS system.
Launch and prospects
BYD Sealion 7 is scheduled to launch in India in March 2025. Due to its advanced technology, long range, and premium features, it will give tough competition to the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 in the electric SUV segment.
