The meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin at an Alaskan airbase was marked by a warm reception. Their interaction, including sharing a car, has sparked interest, particularly from European countries. These countries harbor concerns that Putin might leverage the face-to-face meeting to secure favorable deals.

Kirill Dmitriev, a key Russian negotiator, stated that the talks would go beyond Ukraine and economic matters. A TASS source added that discussions on global strategic security are also planned. Despite Trump’s earlier reservations, both leaders seemed content. Although the U.S. has presented the meeting as a peace initiative, Trump’s reputation suggests a potential focus on business interests.

According to RDIF CEO Dmitriev, the restoration of ties between Russia and the U.S. is being considered, suggesting the agenda encompasses not just economic matters and Ukraine but also a strategy to mend US-Russia relations. If the talks revolve solely around these issues, Ukraine’s standing could be compromised.

The meeting between the two presidents could extend to 7 hours. According to Peskov, the discussions will cover bilateral relations, potential joint economic projects, as well as regional and international matters.
