A deadly gun battle in Barkhan district of Balochistan claimed the lives of four Baloch fighters on Friday. The clash took place in the Koh-e-Jandar area of Rakni tehsil and involved a ‘state-backed’ armed group. Residents reported a prolonged exchange of fire involving heavy weaponry.

The deceased were identified as Mustafa Noor, Samiullah, Rasaan Qadir, and Shahzaib, and their bodies were taken to a hospital in Rakni. The opposing group is described as a ‘state-backed death squad,’ a term commonly used for pro-government militias believed to operate under the protection of Pakistan’s military and intelligence. The Pakistani government has yet to issue an official statement.

Separately, a military operation by Pakistani forces in the Spilinji area of Mastung district resulted in heavy fighting. Large troop deployments were observed late Thursday night, leading to intense gunfire and explosions. Casualties were reported, but the exact numbers are unknown. No Baloch armed group has claimed responsibility. These incidents illustrate the ongoing conflict in Balochistan between nationalist groups and state forces.
