The Bangladesh National Party (BNP), under the leadership of Khaleda Zia, is aggressively preparing for the next national elections, aiming to regain control of the country’s government. As part of its strategy, the BNP is exploring alliances with various political parties. However, Salahuddin Ahmed, a prominent member of the BNP’s standing committee, has negated the possibility of forming an alliance with Jamaat-e-Islami before the elections. This decision clarifies the BNP’s strategy to not align with hardline ideologies in the upcoming elections.

Jamaat-e-Islami is considered a hardline political party in Bangladesh. During Sheikh Hasina’s tenure, many of its leaders were imprisoned. With the political climate changing, Jamaat-e-Islami is also focusing on gaining power.

Speaking with journalists at his Gulshan residence on Saturday, Salahuddin mentioned that the BNP hopes for a free and fair election under the banner of an anti-fascist national unity, which he believes will be a landmark event in the political history of the country.
