The killing of Dipu Chandra Das, a Hindu man lynched by a mob in Mymensingh, Bangladesh, has been strongly condemned by the government as a ‘barbaric’ act. Das was attacked and his body set on fire following unsubstantiated blasphemy allegations. Abrar, an Education Adviser, met with the victim’s family to express solidarity and assure them of the government’s commitment to justice. He stated unequivocally that violence is never a solution, regardless of accusations or beliefs, and that the perpetrators will face legal consequences. The interim government is dedicated to ensuring the rule of law prevails. Twelve arrests have been made to date, and authorities are pursuing further leads. The violence has prompted significant protests in India, where activists are demanding greater protection for minorities in Bangladesh.
