Canberra, March 4 – Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese extended warm Holi wishes to the nation on Wednesday, emphasizing the festival’s profound message of triumphing good over evil, fostering friendships, forgiveness, and human unity.

In a heartfelt message, Albanese highlighted how Holi holds special significance for Hindu and South Asian communities in Australia. ‘This vibrant festival brings people together to celebrate shared traditions, histories, and cultures,’ he said. ‘It reminds us that goodness always prevails over evil, strengthens bonds of friendship and forgiveness, and promotes unity among all.’

The Prime Minister noted that Holi offers a unique opportunity for renewal – both in personal relationships and self-reflection. ‘It’s a time to refresh our connections with ourselves and each other,’ he added.

Albanese celebrated the widespread enthusiasm with which Holi is now observed across Australia. ‘It’s wonderful to see this festival of colors, love, and new beginnings becoming an integral part of modern Australia’s story,’ he remarked. What was once a community-specific event has now captured the hearts of people from diverse backgrounds, securing its place among the nation’s cherished celebrations.

He further underscored the value of Australia’s multicultural fabric. ‘Festivals like Holi remind us how all Australians benefit from the beliefs, customs, experiences, aspirations, hard work, and deep commitment of people from around the world,’ Albanese stated.

‘We respect each other’s differences and come together in our shared Australian identity,’ he continued. ‘May this year’s Holi celebrations promote friendship and community, so that long after the gulal fades, the strength of what unites us endures.’

Earlier, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi also shared Holi greetings with the nation via social media platform X. ‘May this festival of colors and joy fill everyone’s lives with happiness, prosperity, and success,’ he posted, capturing the festival’s essence of infusing new energy and spreading waves of joy everywhere.
