Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Dwaraka Tirumala Rao said on Tuesday that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Andhra Pradesh government has temporarily stopped the investigation into adulteration of animal fat in Tirupati Laddu. He said that the investigation has been stopped because the case is going on in the Supreme Court.
Rao said that the SIT has investigated the procurement and sampling processes in the last two days and tried to understand the reasons for adulteration. The DGP said, “First of all they (SIT) will have to understand the process, study it and collect all the information, but meanwhile an order has come from the Supreme Court and accordingly we have stopped it (investigation). ‘
