The Taliban-led government in Afghanistan has banned the theory of evolution, developed by Charles Darwin, from its university syllabus, arguing it is incompatible with Islamic teachings. Higher Education Minister Neda Mohammad Nadeem declared this during a higher education conference in Herat. He contended that the prior administrations had allowed universities to foster moral degradation by offering courses that contradicted Islamic values. The conference was attended by a diverse group of 29 scholars and researchers from various nations, including India, Uzbekistan, Iran, Turkey, Bangladesh, the UK, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, as well as representatives from public and private universities.
