The attack was perpetrated by a paramilitary group. The Sudan Doctors Network confirmed the incident on X, noting that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) were responsible. The attack killed many elderly people and children who were praying. The Sudan Doctors Network has condemned the incident as a grave violation of human rights.
