1993 Serial Blast Case: TADA court acquitted terrorist Abdul Karim Tunda, sentenced two to life imprisonment

Jaipur. The TADA court of Ajmer, Rajasthan on Thursday acquitted Abdul Karim Tunda, accused in the 1993 serial bomb blasts. Irfan Ahmed and Hameeduddin have been declared guilty. The court has sentenced both of them to life imprisonment. The court has given its verdict in the serial bomb blast case after almost 30 years.

Let us tell you that this incident took place on 6 December 1993 in Rajdhani Express train. After the demolition of Babri Masjid in Ayodhya, terrorists had carried out serial bomb blasts in trains of Kota, Surat, Lucknow, Kanpur, Hyderabad and Mumbai. On February 28, 2004, 16 accused were arrested in the case by the TADA court. In this, the Supreme Court had acquitted 4 accused and reinstated the remaining sentence, who are lodged in Jaipur jail.

TADA Court Judge Mahavir Prasad Gupta today gave his verdict against Abdul Karim Tunda, Irfan Ahmed and Hameeduddin. Abdul Karim Tunda has been acquitted in this. Hameeduddin and Irfan were accused of carrying out bomb blasts in cities of Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra. Abdul Tunda was accused of being the mastermind of the case.
