England must have picked Mark Wooden rather than Chris Woakes for the second one Ashes Check as the previous has extra diversifications which might have come at hand with the purple ball, former Australia captain Ricky Ponting mentioned. Ponting criticised England for what he described as a restricted manner that they took.

“It appeared to me as though (Ben) Stokes was once given one activity, to run in and bowl bouncers ball after ball,” Ponting informed

“When he in the end were given the risk to bowl at a brand new batsman and pitch the ball, he were given a wicket 2d ball to (Cameron) Inexperienced.

“Woakes was once useless once more I am not certain why they troubled choosing him in Adelaide when they have got were given Wooden there.

“To me Wooden would have given them much more variation of their assault after which Stokes can have pitched it up and bowled like a regular seamer, which he is excellent at, and Wooden can have taken the function Stokes had.”

Ponting criticised the restricted manner taken by means of England captain Joe Root and his bowling assault.

“Except for the short-ball plan Stokes completed (at the first day), England did not appear to have a lot of a plan after that,” Ponting mentioned.

“It was once run in and bowl back-of-a-length and stay up for the Aussies to make errors.

“Neatly, when you are bowling to 2 of the highest 3 batsmen on this planet, they are now not going to make errors. You have to be able to get them out and alter issues up.”
