The Department of Telecommunications is looking to revise cybersecurity regulations to address fraud related to mobile phone numbers. A new draft released on June 24th proposes a new platform for mobile number verification. This platform will include all entities licensed for customer verification.

The MNV (Mobile Number Verification) platform is intended to assist authorized entities and licensees in confirming whether a user or company’s phone number is registered in the database. The Department of Telecommunications’ draft also highlights entities that employ numbers or transactions for user verification, known as TIUEs (Telecommunication Identifier User Entities).
