WhatsApp is introducing the ‘Remind Me’ feature to its Android beta users to assist in managing and responding to important messages. This feature is particularly beneficial for those who often forget to reply to critical messages because of their busy schedules. With the ‘Remind Me’ feature, users can set reminders for various message types, including texts, images, videos, GIFs, audio files, and documents. To set a reminder, a user must long-press a message and then tap the bell icon that will appear. They can then choose from the pre-set options of 2 hours, 8 hours, or 24 hours, or set a custom date and time. The reminder notification will then appear at the scheduled time, containing the message’s contents, chat name, and a preview of any associated media. Removing a reminder is straightforward, simply long-press the message and delete the reminder. Unlike starred messages or pinned chats, the ‘Remind Me’ feature delivers direct notifications, eliminating the chance of missing essential documents, replies, or reminders. Furthermore, WhatsApp is experimenting with a ‘Quick Recap’ feature to condense unread chats, enabling users to quickly identify important information within multiple unread messages.
